Web Scraping As Metaphor: Energy Independence, Energy Codependence and the Bad Faith Actor

A piece of paper lies on a table. At first glance, it seems like it could reflect some sort of description of magnetic currents. On second thought, perhaps it is nothing but meaningless swirls. Several arrows point inward toward a circle. The number of arrows are written inside the circle. Then, we see these evaluated entities linking to others of their sort with other numbers and so on. It is a diagram reflecting a social network, but somehow it resembles in some ways a series of suns bobbling on a net of spacetime. Many are lost on this net, seeking out truth and information, but in many ways corrupting it. And those functions of “corruption” are in themselves corrupted by these entities, which, when they accumulate a certain mass become the infamous corporation.

The idea of the graph was to show how information diffuses and to show how “we are all interdependent”. As information diffuses across countries, it is evaluated not simply by mutual connection, but by economic factors as well. Clout, ethos, and financial tyranny all inform how much of these incoming connections are kept. There are three things that often factor into the validity of an average connection — how much this person’s opinion differs from the opinion of the individual on whom they rely for support, how much connection to relevant or irrelevant circles this person has, and how much exploitable value is extractable from this individual entity. This final point is then evaluated in itself on how fast or slow it returns. Those who demand a fast return are less likely to opt in, making those capable of long term connections the only entities retaining connection here. Later, when growth accumulates, there will be a great bid of short term interests vying for connection but unable to retain anything they collect causing the source to lose credit as a sourcer of value.

When we see the importance of connection, tenacity, perceived value, inaccuracy, credit, willingness, and bias we realize that these purely numerical pictures actually have very deep financial — and, as this is the vehicle of materiality — psychosomatic elements of them. To think otherwise is nothing but a sailor tied to the mast of the axiom, thinking he is avoiding the sirens, but simply invalidating his own neurons. He thinks any embodiment must be transactional, his imagination is binary and limited. The purity he supposedly preserves is nestled in deep association with the avoidance of exploitation — an exploitation he possesses that he projects on the world, that does not — like the framework of capitalism itself — inherently exist. To put it colloquially, he ties himself to the mast…keeping himself pure from the very b.s. he has created.

We can ask, then, how energy independence becomes an attackable item. Energy independence is the idea that an area of the world can possess the generative capacity to maintain itself in a structural way, as opposed to simply being reliant on an exterior generative force to receive its full due. It has the ability, mechanism and means to extrapolate on itself and create more value with little to no external input, as opposed to the simple and dependent receptive capacity to receive. When the point is to be needed, to create a dependency — which all agents tend to agree is relatively unethical, past the limits of childhood — we see that interrupted energy independence is a way to keep grown adults in a childlike form.

So what does interrupted energy independence look like? It has several key factors. They first of these are

  • Corrupted or excessive gatekeeping on quality education or jobs
  • Encouraging reliance on social services without encouraging knowledge on the inner workings or generative capacities of these social services
  • Encouraging expectations so high the generative capacity gives up and becomes receptive
  • Associating socially rewarded identities such as respectable, beautiful, trustworthy with dependence and quickly taking them away when independence is witnessed
  • Destroying networks and tracking wealth in order to co-opt what someone has built and earned, to avoid the beginnings of a competition the attacker knows they cannot weather.
  • Taking away tools and technology to inhibit further growth due to fear of being out-developed.
  • Attempts to erode confidence or defer processes even when input is not solicited

Why does such attack of energy independence occur?

  • The average evaluation of the attacker is already beginning to come in lower than the newcomer, so they use what power they still have to attack and brutalize to lower the chances that they will be pushed down further in the future by comparative excellence; an unwillingness to work creates a fear of those who organically want to work, or an unwillingness to think critically and be complacent causes there to be a market for critical thought to be attacked.
  • A competitor believes in a compensatory “weak vs the strong” thinking, and thinks that anything going towards one entity is it going away from another — the individual is alien to win-win. This tends to be the mindset of those who have suffered historically from poverty.

Historically, entities that have suffered attacks on energy independence tend to be excessively conservative in trade if not internal policy as their threat to self is greatly affected by their lack of conservatism. We can see such thinking in Cuba and Korea, which have received brutal attacks from outside countries, leading to individuals being starved sheerly by the luck of their geo-ideological location.

Similarly, these entities will project their victimizers on those who had nothing to do with it, engaging in aggressive and unsustainably punitive communications and trade policies with anyone that comes in contact with them, as their survivalism against what is essentially economic homicide has engrained a series of procedures and beliefs into them to survive an ongoing force that has full intention to collapse them. Like a child trying to survive a murderous parent, there is simply no going back from a world where the person you were supposed to be safest with is attempting to murder you without remorse and on a consistent basis.

These piece is a bit of a long one, so tomorrow we will go into economic codependence, how it is punished, and why its antithesis — independence — may also be duly punished and what that means.
